About Me
I’m Ron Young.
I’m not healthy, I just look good.
I actually have cancer. It’s in remission, but it’ll be back. I’ll be dead in five years, so I’m kinda on the clock. That’s the bad news.
The good news is I’ve developed a far more efficient method of working out. I have lymphoma (blood cancer), so I don’t have a lot of “energy” 3 years ago I couldn’t walk more than a few steps. I had to use a shower stool because I couldn’t stand long enough to take a shower.
After chemo I caught pneumonia and Covid at the same time. I lost 46 lbs in 3 months. Once I was able to stand unassisted for more than 5 minutes at a time I got back in the gym.
I couldn’t curl 10lbs 5 times. But I could hold 5 lbs for 10 seconds. Then 15 seconds. Then 30 seconds. By the time I could hold it for a minute I jumped up to 10lbs. Within 3 months I was holding 45 lb dumbbells for 60 seconds.
Fast forward 18 months I stumbled upon the benefits of using resistance as opposed to gravity. Repetitions burn a lot energy. Challenging gravity is far more efficient. Combating resistance is next level. Muscle growth and development that traditionally takes months and years is now achievable in a matter of days and weeks.
How long it takes depends entirely on how much effort you are willing to put into it!
